With the highly limited 278 & 4278 Red Wing Heritage X Steve McQueen Moc Toes, we are delighted to be able to offer one of the most exclusive releases for both our Men’s & Women’s Collections that we’ve ever had. With a total number of 450 pairs made, where only 100 of them are available on the European market, these boots are true collector’s items!
Both as an actor and as a private person, Steve McQueen was a big fan of our brand's boots. Especially in the course of his motorcycle races, he almost exclusively favored our 877 Irish Setter and thus contributed significantly to the positioning of the Red Wing Shoe Company within the biker world. We are therefore thrilled to announce an exclusive collaboration between the Steve McQueen Trust and the Red Wing Shoe Company. The 278 McQueen Moc is based on our iconic 875 Moc Toe and is made with the same Oro Legacy leather. However, the shoe also has some very distinctive unique features. On the outside of the right shoe, the heel-area carries an embossment with his race number, which is also the style number of the shoe. McQueen drove his most legendary race under the 278 at the historic ISDT race in Erfurt in 1964. The left shoe has his signature embossed in the same place. The black Traction Tred outsole provides a fresh look and a nice contrast to the light-colored upper leather. The dark Dull Gilt eyelets harmonize perfectly with the easy-to-lace brown brass speedhooks. The 278 also features our iconic quarter stitching behind the moc seam and a unique “pyramid stitching” at the back of the heel. Furthermore, it should be mentioned that the McQueen Moc comes in a box with a special sticker and also includes a 3-piece sticker set and two shoe bags. Lastly, the brown leather laces, which are included, complement the look of the 278.
As mentioned above, we also offer the Red Wing X Steve McQueen Moc in our women's collection as a limited release with the style number 4278.
