RED WING Merchant Oxford 8043
August 2016 Red Wing successfully introduced the new Merchant Collection, which is based on 1920s work boots. Now we are able to offer this extremely popular boot in an oxford, for the warmer season and elegant events. Just like its 48 inch counterpart (the 8062) the Red Wing 8043 is made with the premium Olive Mohave leather produced in the company´s own S.B. Foot leather tanning facility. In addition, the boot is build without a toe-box on a Chemigum sole, which Red Wing started to utilize from 1964 onwards. Visually the new Merchatn Oxford addition has a elegant and slim silhouette, which is emphasized by the stitching on the outside of the boot reaching up to the Achilles´ heel. The low toe profile gives it that last touch. A comfortable addition to any man´s wardrobe that can be easily be worn with Chinos, suit pants, and denim.
This collection can be viewed as a homage to the company´s founder Charles Beckman, who worked as a merchant in Red Wing, Minnesota. In addition, this style is based on a 1920s working boot because that was the time when Red Wing started manufacturing boots without toe-boxes. The first boot with that feature was the Style 245, which was also referred to as the „black chief“. The Merchant is also available in the dark Ebony Harness leather with the stlyenr. 8061.
